Designer Erika Pena Spring/Summer 07 Lucite Jewelry Line

About Erika Peña:
Peña moved to New York City, on her 18th birthday, to pursue her career in fashion and attend Parsons School of Design. After working with top designers Donna Karan and Josie Natori, the Puerto Rican native was inspired to launch a clothing line called “epe”. It was during that period that Peña collaborated with a number of different designers on various projects that led her to the launch of the Erika Peña line. Inspired by her move from Puerto Rico to New York, Peña conveys this experience through her jewelry, which is a bit rough and edgy, like New York, and a bit light and airy like the Caribbean. As the company grows, more prominent stores are carrying the Erika Peña line, with the most recent being Henri Bendel, Fred Segal, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Calypso and Paul & Joe International. Not only has the line had a great response with the retailers, but also with the press and celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Beyonce, Ashlee Simpson, Fergie, Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston and Brooke Shields have been sporting the hottest accessory line, Erika Peña.

The Kika collection includes twelve pieces ranging in price from $58 to $130. The line consists of various styles of lucite designs that translate easily from day to night. Kika combines an eclectic mix of lucite charms and beads with gold vermeil and sterling silver chains. Special attention has been paid to create the color palette for the Kika line, from differing shades of earth tones such as browns, blacks and clears, to bright, vivid hues including pinks, blues, greens and purples. ‘Blanca Earrings’, chandelier style teardrops and the ‘Ramon Necklace’, faceted oval lucite beads in combo colors strung on long sterling sliver chains, are highlights of the Kika collection.

Kasil's 2007 Fall Denim line is officially hear, and the look is skinny and dark. Designer David Lim takes jeans wear to a new level of style and custom fit. "Painting with denim" is what David refers to as designing his premium denim collection. (source)

From Miami to Japan, Kasil jeans are becoming a big name in designer, high end fashion denim. Offering fresh and innovative styles for both men and women, Kasil's jeans are created for all occasions, and are hand crafted creating unique distressing and detailing. Created 100% by hand, Kasil jeans offer a level of superior quality found in few other denim lines.

One of the most outstanding styles from their fall line is the Celine skinny jean. These pants are specially designed for a night on the town, and have your favorite pair of heels in mind. Mini Madness, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Kahri Hibiscus Mini Dress, $80.00

Fergie (source)

Carmen Electra (source)

All of that time that you have been clocking in at the gym this winter is about to pay off because mini dresses are in for Spring. Time to bust out those toned thighs and calves because anything goes this season for mini dresses. Whether you want to go conservative or uber short, there is a mini dress out there for you.

If you choose to go with the "super mini" look, like Fergie Ferg, then make sure you follow up with a pair of tights or (shudder) leggings underneath so you don't give everyone around you a Hollywood style show of your bits. And unless you are supermodel tall, make sure you pair your mini with some killer heels to give your legs the most mileage.

May we suggest: the hibiscus trim mini from Kahri is perfect for almost any body type and gives a little more length for mini-shy wearers to play with.

Sarah Jessica Parker: Bitten Update

Sneak Peek at SJP's New Line "Bitten"

Word on the street says that Sarah Jessica Parker's new line, "Bitten" will consist of 500 pieces including cashmere sweaters, dresses, active wear, jeans and accessories. The best part? Each piece will only cost $20 or less.

What? This line debuts in June and I predict that at those prices, everything will be sold out in the first day. Stay tuned for more updates.

Local Celebrity Creates Eco Friendly Tee With Proceeds Benefiting Global Green

Local Celebrity Launches New Eco Friendly T-shirt at the Global Green USA Oscar Party

Local Celebrity was started by three young siblings (two brothers and one sister) in a barn (yes! Grandma’s barn to be exact) down in San Diego county. After gaining lightening speed momentum, they moved up to Los Angeles to formally start a legit apparel brand. Local Celebrity has created one of the most popular t-shirt brands without their audience even knowing. Looking to push the brand name further, Local Celebrity will also expand into other branded silk screened categories along with their “saying T’s.” Look for cut & sew hoodies, fly caps, and fresh kicks to round out the collection.

Printed on 100% organic cotton using Eco-friendly water based inks, T-Shirt impresarios make a statement while raising some loot for Global Green USA.

The shirts will be available online this week and in finer retail stores early March. The Respect Your Mother shirts are printed on 100% certified organic cotton, which costs significantly more to manufacture, but the guys at Local Celebrity do not want their customers to pay more for these shirts so they are going to absorb the extra production cost. Depending on the retailer, these shirts will be available between $20 - $30. Proceeds from the RYM shirts will be donated to Global Green USA in an effort to help fight global warming.

Available in only the finest stores as Urban Outfitters (awww yeah), Sak’s Fifth Avenue (posh!), Kitson (yes…that Kitson), and online at localcelebrity.com (word!), these products are the perfect addition to anybody’s everyday wardrobe. No crowd too proud.

Clearly Fashion, See Through Spring Trends, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Lucite Layer Bangles

Transparent Fendi Bag

Nine West Patent Leather and Lucite Shoes

It's unanimous...the hottest trend going this spring is clear to see. Sorry, bad pun...lucite looks are showing up on everything from shoes and jewelry, and clear bags are going from low budget to high end. Remember back in middle school when the most awesome and popular girls had see through backpack purses? Well, they can relive those memories now with a quilted see through Fendi bag. Who knew?

While I must say, the lucite bangles are totally cute in a by the pool, little girl sort of way, I'm not digging the clear bag or heels. Yuck. For one thing, they don't wear well...scuffs and scratches are all the more difficult to mask when the fabric is totally transparent. And for another...well, do you really want someone knowing the contents of your purse? Isn't that just a little bit intrusive.

Well, what do I know...I'm going to keep my clear-wear to a minimum. How do you feel about this see through trend?

Fashion Hit or Miss: Rosario Dawson, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Rosario Dawson
Rosario Dawson (source)

Rosario Dawson further supported my theory that 80's-style dresses are still die hard fashion staples among Hollywood starlets when she stepped out this weekend at the ShoWest Talent Awards in Las Vegas. While I am glad that her hair is starting to grow out, and agree that the shoes are super cute, the dress still leaves me divided.

This dress is very shiny indeed, and hard for most people to pull off. Part of me loves it, but another part of me has a sneaking suspicion that it is made entirely of tin foil cupcake wrappers.

If you are like me and want to keep your silver to a minimum, do it LeFashionista style with some dainty sterling earrings from Amenda Tate. These are super stylish, yet more subtle than an aluminum dress and go with just about anything.
