What's New This Week at Life & Style? Couture in the City Fashion Blog
So what's new this week at Life & Style magazine? Check out their front page for all the greatest gossip on baby news (is Nicole pregs or not? I'm skeptical...). Anywho, the hottest trend this week amongst celebs has to be light and airy sun dresses. Whether they are short and sweet or superlong, this is THE staple for the season. I don't know about Gwen Stefani's school girl ensemble though...it's a little too dark and covered up for summer, don'tcha think?
Leave it to SJP to turn a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt into a chic summer ensemble! The former Carrie Bradshaw just added a pair of yellow heels and a bright pink tote to her casual look and VOILA!...instant style. I'm so jealous. Life & Style shows you how you can add some effortless color to your summer look with these bright combos. Best of all, these trends won't break your bank (that yellow tunic from H&M only costs $25!!!)
I can't believe my eyes...flip flops are in style! Well, this isn't such a surprise really with the summer months upon us, but it's nice to see this casual look get many trendy makeovers. Whether you want a luxe pair to wear with a breezy sun dress or just a casual pair for the beach, Life & Style tells you where to get the best selling pairs this summer.
Who wears it best? Life & Style poses the question to you...and it's not an easy task. These four looks are super trendy and Life & Style readers choose their favorites, so now you can too! While I think that all of these celebs pulled these looks off way better than I ever could, some did it better than others...I simply love the BCBG dress worn by Shaun Robinson and Sophia Bush...so cute! Keep checking in with Life & Style magazine for all the latest and greatest information about your favorite celebs, fashion and more!

Designing Women, Couture in the City Fashion Blog
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (source)
Call it a monopoly on the fashion industry...Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are now appealing to almost everyone in the fashion world. Best known for their popular line of clothes for young girls and pre-teens at Wal-Mart (and of course for their long run on TGIF and for producing a gazillion movies and television shows for younger viewers), now their older big sisters' can get a little taste of Olsen style too.
Recently MK and Ash debuted a new line called Elizabeth and James, named after their younger siblings. This line is said to be "more affordable" than Ashley's other women's line, The Row, which offers truly upscale ready to wear items. Elizabeth and James will be launched this fall at stores like Neiman Marcus, Intermix and Bergdorf Goodman, with t-shirts starting at around $40.
While sometimes MK and Ash have questionable fashion taste for their own personal style (bag lady couture, goth vamp and trashy college student are only a few appropriate adjectives to describe their look), I think that Elizabeth and James will be fabulous. When the Olsen twins first started to become more visible around 2003, they were fresh-faced and totally cute, so I know that deep down, they have good style, and maybe they are just trying to find themselves through fashion.
So what do you think...will the Olsen's foray into "affordable upscale fashion" be a success?

The Seaton Flagship Store is Now Open, Couture in the City Fashion Blog
Have you ever fallen in love with a small shop or boutique while vacationing somewhere beautiful by the sea? The type of store you enter and immediately wish you could take home with you? Seaton is that store. But, for once, it’s in your own backyard.
Introducing the Seaton Flagship store, a unique new concept in retail about to make its debut on Melrose and Almont. Owned by the husband and wife team of Mark Freeman and Jill Roberts (who also own the Jill Roberts boutiques), the concept for this new store is rooted in the duo’s fashion label, also named Seaton, a line known for its beachy, casual chic vibe. Unlike the couple’s other stores, Seaton will not be a fashion boutique, but rather a destination for a modern, inspirational and relaxed lifestyle – one that celebrates the state of mind that comes from listening to an ocean crash or watching a beachside sunset.
This mindset and aesthetic is carried through the entire Seaton boutique – from the warm and inviting 1500 square foot retail space (reminiscent of a shop in a sophisticated resort town) to all of the lifestyle product categories the store will stock, including clothing, accessories, linens, pillows, books, glass wear and gifts. This unique charm is what allows Seaton to carve its own niche in the crowded marketplace, offering consumers a fresh new shopping experience.
The Seaton Flagship location, which is located at 8920 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood (across from Maxfield’s), is the first of many Seaton locations that will open over the next few years.
Store Hours:
Monday through Saturday
10 am to 6 pm
Store Phone Number:
310.550.1232

It's Electric, Couture in the City Fashion Blog
Kate Hudson (source)
Somewhere between robin's egg and turquoise is electric blue, and celebs are flocking to this hue in a big way. An unusual color for summer, electric blue has become a staple with the Hollywood elite on the red carpet and on the streets. Whether it's a daring halter dress like on Chloe Sevigny or a casual tunic like seen on Kate Hudson, there seems to be no limits to where this color can go.
For me, there is something about this color that hearkens back to the late 1980's and early 1990's...it's almost neon in nature. This used to be one of my favorite colors to wear in scrunchie and sock form, and I am pleased to see its' return. This is actually a fabulous color for a variety of skin tones, and is especially great for showing of a summer glow.
Think that an electric blue frock may be hard to find anywhere past Rodeo Drive? Think again...LeFashionista has you covered, and at a price tag way below what the celebs might pay. If you are eager to try out this trend, then check out Misile's "Addressed to You" sun dress, now on sale. Cute a la carte, or with a pair of jeans, this is the perfect way to dip your toes in the electric blue water.
