And it Was all Yellow, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

One of the sunniest ways to dress up your summer wardrobe is with a yellow dress. Celebrities are hooked on this trend from the red carpet to a casual brunch, this is THE big hue of the season.

Yellow is by no means a popular color historically when it comes to fashion...it's a difficult pigment for most to pull off. However, if you have a great glow from a summer tan, then this is the perfect time to try out this trend. If you are looking for an interesting option to wear to a wedding, birthday party or family gathering this summer, then try a yellow dress.

Think that you are too pale for yellow? Not so...if you are fair, then opt for darker shades of yellow and you may be pleasantly surprised that it won't wash you out. Don't be afraid to try out all different shades to see what works best for you. Stay away from patterns if you are worried about trying this trend, and instead look for interesting clean cuts. The Mini Debate, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Cameron Diaz (source)

This weekend, a newly blonde again Cameron Diaz stepped out in a super cute Kelly Bergin minidress over skinny Corpus jeans. Now, normally, this look would irk me, and I would scold Cameron for hiding her obviously killer legs when she could be showing them off.

However, I think that for once, I actually like the dress over jeans combo in this case. Why does it work? Well, for one, Cam's mini is just that, mini, and doesn't have a whole lot of volume or extra fabric. It's a cute, solid colored streamlined minidress that isn't flowy and has just enough detail at the neckline to keep you interested, plus it is paired with an equally skinny pair of jeans. If this dress was any longer or fuller, it may not work as well. Paired with minimal accessories and super cute animal print open toed shoes, I'd say we have a winner!

Want to try out the minidress over jeans look for yourself? Look for mini styles, (this means well above the knee, and fitting snugly against the bod) in solid colors for the best results, and pair with skinny jeans and a heel.

Confessions: Fabulous Fabric

V Neck Top made of Modal from The Loft

Yu Clothing petal sleeve dress, $140.00

Yu Clothing Shirred Tank Dress $124.00

I have a confession to make: I know very little about fabrics.

It's true...while I can rattle off this designer and that, I don't know much about the types of fabric that go into making the beloved clothes that I wear. And then I discovered modal.

What is modal you say? Glad that you asked...modal is a bio-based fiber spun from beech tree cellulose, and is essentially a type of rayon. It is soft as butter, easy to wash, and doesn't pill or fall into the same ruin as regular cotton fabrics. It resists to shrinking and fading, and is as tough as nails against mineral deposits in your washing machine. It's like magic. In my eyes, it is the best dang thing to happen to fashion since Marc Jacobs.

I discovered how much I truly loved modal this weekend while I was shopping at The Loft. A good majority of their tops and dresses are created with 90%-100% modal, and are flattering, comfortable and durable.

You can jump start your rayon-based spring wardrobe with some cute and comfy dresses Le Fashionista style from Yu Clothing. Fresh and flattering, Yu Clothing offers comfy styles in a fabulous fabric no wardrobe should be without.
