Jillian With a J.com Creates Bath Bombs for Men and Comes Out on Top

Jillian With a J .com sales skyrocket through the offering of bath bombs for men.

(PRWEB) December 17, 2005 -- Jillian With a J .com hits the untapped "Male Market" with bath bombs created especially for men.

The unique online boutique "Jillian With a J.com" is dedicating bath products to sophisticated, classic, intense yet refined men who are not too proud to bathe.

Jillian With a J .com has been open a short 8 months and with the passing holiday season has seen sales skyrocket through the offering of male focused bath bombs.

"There is a demand for male bath products out there and we aim to fill it. Men bathe too, they lead stressful lives and need to soak and rejuvenate as much as women do." says Jillian.

With bath bomb names like "The Gentleman", "The Boyfriend" and newly created, "The Metrosexual" Jillian With a J .com is proving that men bathe and they are proud of it.

Jillian says, "I have created a line with a variety of scents for men. Not all men want to smell like cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies and our scent descriptions reflect that. I have fun, I push the envelope and I make fun of the macho stereotype that men don't take baths."

Jillian With a J. com is proud to announce that their male bath bombs are now offered at a revolutionary men's specialty store in Chicago, "Manifold" that focuses on bath and body products specifically for men. http://manifoldstore.com/

Jillian says that bath bombs for men are just the beginning. "We are in the amazing stage of creating 98.6% natural body washes, body sprays and soaps for men in the same scents and names. This is an exciting time for Jillian With a J.com and I know that we will create a revolutionary trend."

Jillian With a J .com specializes in cruelty-free bath treats for women, children, men and even furry friends! Enjoy Bath Salts, Soaps, Bath Bombs, Buddha Bombs, Pedicure Bombs, Doggie Bombs and Bath Bombs for Men.

Meet Juju Leroux

By: Wendy Owen

Did you ever think that calypso cool and urbanite chic could merge into sophisticated jewelry? Juju Leroux did, and created her own line of island inspired jewelry with an uptown feel.

In the same vein as last years Indian-inspired jewelry come Juju Leroux’s exotic earrings and necklaces. In beautiful Capri blues and rich reds, her designs bring the exotic into style in a whole new way.

With names like the Carmen Miranda Cluster Necklace and the Blue Laguna Cluster Earrings, Juju Leroux’s line puts the “fun” in functional. Juju Leroux also offers 20 items exclusively at leFashionista for sweet prices, starting at $20 for the and as much as $122 for the Azavache Flor Necklace with Swarovski crystals.

Even if Island Cool isn’t your style, Juju Leroux has something to offer everyone. From the trendsetter (her luxe Peacock Necklace is to die for!) to the demure (the Blue Laguna Linear Earrings) Juju Leroux has it all.

My personal favorite is the Blue Laguna Necklace ($160). Paired with a white tank, jeans and sandals for spring it’s perfect for casual glam.

Fur Sure

Charlize, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

Fur is hot, hot, hot this holiday season, and the stars don’t mind showin’ it.
Not the real stuff, of course, because, HELLO, when did you ever see a burgundy colored rabbit or chinchilla? Exactly.

Whether it is on the trim of your coat, the rim of your boots or as a dramatic wrap like the one Charlize Theron is seen wearing here, flaunt it while the weather is still cold.

Fur Tip:
Make sure you don’t go TOO crazy with your fur. Like everything else, moderation is the key. Don’t do fur purse, fur stole, fur shoes, fur ipod case….you get the point. Wear your fur pieces with neutral colors so they stand out! Afterall, you want to make sure you look more Soho than Arctic Tundra!

Fit for a Princess

Princess Survival Kit, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

My sister is a glamour queen. Seriously. She loves clothing designers, beauty products and shoes more than anything, and if it’s in the pages of Vogue, it’s gold. This year, I’ve been racking my brain on what to get her…another gift card to Saks is boring and she seems to have everything already.

Then I saw the Princess Survival Kit and my worries were over. It’s perfect for her discerning tastes without breaking my bank! I just know she’ll flip over the Jillian With a J bath bombs because she is a bath junkie and loves to try new, fun things. The tank top is totally cute too, and is also something you can’t find just anywhere.

Even though Christmas is coming up and you aren’t supposed to buy anything for yourself, I think I might get myself a few Jillian With a J bath bombs. I hear they have cookie scented ones…yum.

Watch Out

Betsy Johnson Watch, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

The bizarre queen of the couture and the hip, Betsey Johnson, released her line of watches in department stores everywhere this month. Known for her wacky patters, bold colors and beautiful lines, Betsey’s watches live up to her kooky couture style.

These silver antique style watches are full of details, just like you would expect. Renaissance scrolls, ethnic carvings and yes, tassels adorn these watches. They come in so-gaudy-they-are-cute miniature armoirs with zebra and pink lining.

These babies are so new and hot, you can barely find them on the internet! I saw the new line at Dillards, but Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales carries them also.

Get down with your bling-chic self and try out a Betsey Johnson for your next time piece accessory.

Holiday Fashion Faux Pas

By: Wendy Owen

Is it a fashion sin to mismatch your gloves and your scarf? What about white cowboy boots in the winter months? Sweaters with high heels?

During the winter months, people are more likely to make fashion faux pas then ever. Why you ask? Well, the simple answer is; it’s cold and people just want to get warm.

However, by following a few simple rules, you can avoid being a winter fashion victim and still keep warm by following these “guidelines,”

1) Limit your holiday wear to Christmas Eve and Christmas Da.y
Yes, that blinking Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer sweater that your mom made is cute, but a little intense year-round. Save it for family gatherings only.

2) Don’t forget to bundle up!
Shivering in a mini-skirt and sandals just isn’t cute. Being uncomfortable is definitely a faux-pas, so if you have to wear a skirt or dress, get some cute textured tights and close-toed shoes to keep you warmer.

3) Don’t get too mad about plaid.
Or leopard print or paisley for that matter. Only a choice and brave few can pull off these bold prints in an oversized jacket. If you do opt for animal prints, keep everything else monochromatic so you don’t go overboard.

4) Make sure it fits.
That pretty much goes for anything you wear year-round, but people seem to forget it in the winter months. Yes, that University of Michigan sweatshirt your ex-boyfriend gave you is comfortable, but face it, not exactly glamorous. Try a sleek turtleneck instead.

5) If it glitters, it’s gold.
Many people forget that this is the best time of year to wear your sparkles with pride. It’s a fashion faux pas to let that cute gold purse hide in the closet. Bring out your sparkles during the winter month for extra shine during dreary days.

New York, New York

By: Wendy Owen

Graduation is upon me and this December, yours truly is taking a little fiesta in the big apple as a graduation present to myself.

The Statue of Liberty, The Guggenheim, The Empire State Building…I’ve never been before, so I truly can’t wait to do all of the touristy stuff. Who knows, maybe I can have coffee with Ben and Jen or snag some sushi with one of the Olsen’s. It could happen.

However, as you may have guessed, one of the real reasons that I am excited about going to New York is THE SHOPPING. I’ve already got my SOHO and 5th Ave shopping wishlists planned out. Agent Provoceteur, Tiffany’s, Bergdorf Goodman….and all around the holiday season!

So my little lefashionista’s, cheers and I’ll be thinking of you all as I run my hands over a Prada wallet and sample desserts at Serendipity.

Got a favorite New York moment? Tell us about it! My claim to fame: my best friend sited Elizabeth Berkley (Saved by the Bell, Striptease) Parker Posey (Best in Show, You’ve Got Mail), Mr. Big and that guy from Office Space all in one summer.

"House of Dereon" Beyonce Line Debuts

House of Dereon, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

This isn’t your average J-Lo or Kathy Lee collection.

Like so many other stars that have started their own lines, Beyonce Knowles is now among the ranks of other celebrities like Sean Combs who have launched their own line of ready-to-wear luxury casuals.

Now available at Macy’s and Dillard’s department stores, the House of Dereon line offers lacy blouses, sportswear, and ever-classic blue jeans. The line will also feature handbags, furs and shoes, shoes shoes.

The name of Beyonce’s brand is rooted in family tradition. Like her mother Tina, Beyonce’s grandmother was also a seamstress, and the name of the line is a tribute to her.

Get it and love it:

Design on a Dime—Discount Designers

Tulle Skirt , originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

With recent rumors circulating that Tommy Hilfiger may
soon have a line at Wal-Mart, someone has to ask—is
discount retail the new department store?

Brands like Isaac Mizrahi and Mossimo slowly crept
into Target’s lines years ago, and now Wal-Mart seems
to be catching up. Even K-Mart (now Sears Essentials
in many places) is beefing up their clothing lines to
reach out to a wider audience.

My personal favorite has to be the many lines at
Target like the Cynthia Rowley “Swell” collection of
accessories and bedding. However, the Isaac Mizrahi
line is also to die for.

Snag up some hot Mizrahi items this fall like this
adorable tulle skirt and match it with a sweet
embroidered purse for that czarina look this
Thanksgiving.

Poll: How do you feel about designer duds at discount
chains? Tacky or Terrific?

Snow Bunny Accessories

Shearling Gap Bag, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

Even if you don’t live in cooler climates, winter is
always a fun time to bundle up. Some of the best looks
of the season look just as cozy as they feel!

While Ugg boots are unanimously on the way out,
shearling lined boots and jackets are very hot for
this winter. Not only is shearling cute and comfy,
it’s completely luxurious, without putting a hole in
your pocket.

My favorite looks are shearling lined peacoats, boots
and this sweet bag from the Gap. So perfect in winter
white, it will look great paired with a bright sweater
and mittens or an earth toned jacket and scarf. Get
your shearling look now and enjoy your snow bunny look
all season long.

Wedge Boots are All the Rage

Wedge Boots, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

Your ankles will thank youwedge boots are totally hot
right now.

Thats right, spiky-heeled thigh-high boots have been
trumped by the more sophisticated (and reasonably more
comfortable) wedge boot. They give you the same kind
of height that you crave, without the hassles of
balancing on mile-high heels.

Celebrities like Jessice Simpson and Beyonce were
rockin these months ago, but now you can too, and
just in time for the holiday season. Miss your wedge
shoes or lace-up espadrilles from the summer? Get your
hands on some wedge boots for the same feel, but with
more power to beat winter chills.

My favorite for this winter are these burgundy studded
leather wedge boots from Diesel. Sooo cute and perfect

Disco Back from the Dead

Madonna, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

With stars like Madonna sporting the Farrah Flip
hairdo and off the shoulder tunics coming back in
style, it appears that disco has made a revival.

This comes as no surprise…after all the 80’s look has
been around again for nearly five years. Seems as
though stylists and fashionistas are hanging up their
day-glo brights and getting their groove on in gold,
platforms and furs.

Not ready to make a full-on disco expression?
Incorporate a few pieces at a time, and don’t
overload. African-American girls should go au natural
because ‘fro’s are hot again, if worn in the right
context.

Even if you can’t afford to buy a few trendy disco
inspired pieces, take a look at your wardrobe—you may
already have some key items. Look for:

Gold hoop earrings (large)
Bell bottoms
Platform espadrilles
Platform dress shoes
Gold Accessories
Fur-lined jackets
Tunics
Handkerchief tops

Tip: Dust off your curling iron and make like Madonna
for some hot flippy layers around your face for a new
look this winter.

“The Devil Wear’s Prada” Coming Soon

By: Wendy Owen

Fashion is always on the big screen, but coming in 2006, “The Devil Wears Prada” will highlight fashion in a whole new way. Starring Anne Hathaway, this movie is about a small town girl who ends up working for a big fashion magazine and well…I don’t want to spoil the plot for you. Based on the novel of the same name, this movie is guaranteed to be a must for every fashionista.

Silver screen fashion is nothing new. Movies like “13 Going on 30,” “Pret a Porter (Ready to Wear)” and “Zoolander” have already poked fun at or revealed some of the mysteries of the fashion world. Film and fashion have really come to rely on one another and actresses and celebrities have become our fashion icons. Many models cross over to acting such as Milla Jovovich and Gisele Bundchen, so they are invariably tied

What is your favorite fashion moment in film? Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”? Or how about Grace Kelly in “Rear Window”? Reese Witherspoon in “Legally Blonde”? Let us know!

Make Mine Magical

Russian Czarina, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

There is something so fun about the new Russian Czarina inspired styles that hit the runways this fall. From the luxe velour skirts and tops in plum, burgundy, black and chocolate to the billowy embroidered tops and fur-laden coats, I love it all.

This new Russian inspired styling is perfect for fall and a great look to segue way into the magical winter months ahead. No matter where you live or what you celebrate, winter is a fun time, and a signal of a new year. Not only do these Russian-inspired lines create whimsy and fantasy, but they are also designed to keep you warm with textured tights, tailored coats and sweet accessories like fur muffs and fuzzy hats.

Best of all, I think that these fuzzy Soviet styles are some of the easiest to transfer from the runway to the real way. In many cases, runway styles are just too over the top or unrealistic for everyday wear. However, most of these cozy Russian styles are fun but realistic and can be worn at the office, at school or for a night on the town.

One of my favorite looks comes from the Oscar de la Renta show and is very feminine and fun. Ruffly peasant blouse, detailed velour skirt and matching velvet boots—what’s not to love? The Russian Czarina look is hot right now, but also makes clothes fun and even a little magical again.

"reimagined, etc" by Jill Herlands

By: Wendy Owen

Art deco meets high fashion with “reimagined, etc” by Jill Herlands. And why shouldn’t it? Herlands is a native New Yorker, and fashion is just as familiar as walking down the street to her.

Herlands could never find the kind of clothing she liked in stores, so she would create her own! This kind of creativity has rubbed off onto her jewelry line, “reimagined, etc” and shows in her silver pieces.

Like something out of the Guggenheim museum, her earrings and necklaces offer stunning and unique styles you can’t find anywhere.

Perhaps one of the most innovative things about Herlands is that she takes custom orders to create individual pieces. Whether you have something already in mind or need her to create a piece that says “you,” she can create something special and unique.

Custom jewels aren’t just for the rich and famous anymore…now you can have a unique style all your own with “reimagined, etc.”

Kirsten Dunst: Bohemian Fashion Victim or Trailblazer?

Kirsten Dunst, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

Since childhood, Kirsten Dunst has held her own against the Hollywood elite. Starring alongside Tom Cruise as a child and on and off again with actor Jake Gylenhaal, Dunst is constantly in the public eye.

In recent years, Dunst has been known for her care-free and dare we say now, bohemian styles. But lately, her ambitious efforts have done nothing more than backfire on her.

One instance is this beautiful pleated dress from Chloe. Very sweet and sophisticated, but topped with a vest and dark wedge shoes, it’s nothing short of a fashion disaster. My vote? Add a shiny brooch or low slung belt and some pretty flats for a more flattering look. Don’t mix your menswear and summer pieces with a pretty flowy dress!

Sienna Gets Shorty

Sienna, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

The reigning queen of bohemian fashion has shorn her locks much to the chagrin of fashionista’s everywhere.

Is this new hairstyle a sign of changing fashion? Will others follow suit?

For a long while now, long and flowy locks have reigned supreme in Hollywood. Everyone from Mischa Barton to Jennifer Anniston has worn their hair a little looser lately. Stars like Lyndsay Lohan keep flip flopping from one hairstyle to another, but most starlets have opted for longer hair.

Since Sienna usually has the final word on what’s hot in the indie-boho scene, do you think that others will follow her example? Is the era of sexy (but messy) bedhead a thing of the past?

Which celebrity do you think has the best hair of all time? Let your voice be heard!

Fall into Halloween

By: Wendy Owen

Tricks and treats are right around the corner…how
about a sweet bag to start the season?
Rust is a big color for fall, and everyone is wearing
this earthy tone on cable knit sweaters, scarves and
more.

The LeFashionista answer? Our Style Buzz Cleopatra bag
in brown is just what you are looking for. The
metallic braided handle and soft sueded fabric are
perfect for any look this fall. Pair it with boots and
a flowy skirt while the weather is still nice, and use
it to dress up a chunky sweater in the coming cool
months.

Need some ideas for a fashion-foreward Halloween
costume? Check out these original favorites:

1) Go as your favorite designer: I recommend getting a
long blond wig and a Grecian styled dress and going as
Donatella Versace. Remember to speak with an accent.
Wear anything outlandish and as long as you have a
black moustache, you can say that you are dressed like
John Galliano.
2) Be a gold digger: Wear all of your hot gold
accessories and carry around a bucket and shovel.
Remember to pay lots of attention to wealthy old men.
3) Be a fashion victim: Wear all of your pieces from
last season that just didn’t work (you know, that cape
and jelly shoes?) and attach a fake knife with blood
to your chest. Don’t forget to wear your “Mrs.
Federline” tank top.
4) Be a model: You know the clichés…do an inspired
look from this season (I recommend
Russian/Victorian/Goth) and do your best catwalk. Have
your little brother or sister snap pictures at you
like the paparazzi for special effects.
5) Go as one of your favorite stars: Get really
oversized accessories and baggy clothes and carry
around a Starbucks coffee for the Mary Kate look.
Carry around a Chihuahua and wear a skimpy silver
bathing suit while eating a cheeseburger for the Paris
Hilton look. Carry a really great LeFashionista bag
and wear your daisy dukes for the Jessica Simpson
look. Let your imagination run wild!

For a Pretty Pout

By: Wendy Owen

With all of this fall’s busy and bright colors, the
general consensus is that makeup should be kept to a
minimum. Whether it’s czarina-goth, military-prep or
any other fall look you are going for, simple makeup
is best. No matter what look you are after, it’s all
about rich and textured details this fall, and heavy
makeup would be too much. Bare faced is nice if you
have a sparkling complexion, but not everyone is that
lucky.

My solution for a polished look without going over
this fall? Lip gloss in rich, fall hues.

My favorite is L’Oreal Color Juice in Raspberry Smash.
It leaves a glossy stain and isn’t sticky like some
glosses, and will last you through winter.

Bag dark lips like Angelina Jolie and Gwen Stefani
usually sport this fall. Try more natural berry stains
like Mischa Barton and Kate Hudson usually wear to
complement your fall ensembles.

Shopper’s Remorse

By: Wendy Owen

You work hard all week; maybe you even have two jobs
or go to school. That fringed leather hobo bag has
been calling your name for weeks, and you finally feel
like you deserve it. But then once it’s in your
possession, you can’t help but feel a little tinge of
guilt for buying a purse that’s probably more than a
month’s car payment.

Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. Some people get a
euphoric rush from impulse buys and overspending.
Others don’t know how to buy anything special for
themselves at all.

You can help curb your shopper’s remorse by making
detailed lists of things you want vs. things you need.
It’s much easier to justify buying a hot new pair of
heels for an interview or a graduation than just on a
whim.

If you are on a budget, the best way to keep yourself
in check is to always put your needs before your
wants. If winter is coming up and you need a new coat,
you’ll feel a lot better if you put your money towards
that instead. If you feel like you need a new bag or
shoes, buy a trendy new style that you love in a basic
color, like black or tan. This way, you will get the
most mileage out of something new.

If you aren’t on a budget, you can fend off those bad
feelings by buying things one at a time. And remember,
sometimes you can’t have everything you want. Or can
you?

Just remember that shopper’s remorse is normal, and
you shouldn’t let it stop you from getting the things
you need or deserve. Shopping can be addictive or
destructive for some, but if you know how to control
your spending and where to spend your money wisely,
your clothes and accessories can be hot investments.

Maybe it’s because she is a total glamour queen in a “less is more” era, but for some reason, Paula just can’t get it right with fashion critics.

To me, Paula exonerates the kind of glamour-queen/exotic beauty that Sophia Loren generated in the 60’s. She is always dressed to impress--heels, hair, makeup, bag and dress. Even though she is a dancer by trade, I can never recall seeing a rag-mag photo of her in sloppy sweats, or even jeans and a t-shirt for that matter.

Since the 1980’s, Paula has been a style icon. For me, she wasn’t just one of my favorite musical artists, but also a fashion idol. Hello….did anyone look better in big bangs and an oversized satin jacket than Paula? I think not.

The truth is, I just think that everyone is jealous. Seriously, how many flash in the pan artists from the 80’s are still in the public eye today? Tiffany who? Furthermore, she still looks great for transcending three decades of fans.

My opinion? Keep it up Paula. Sophia still looks good today, and I’m sure you will in your golden days too. Damn the critics!

You are What You Wear

Lindsay Lohan, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

Think your accessories aren’t a telltale sign of your
personality? Think again. While you many think that it
is the clothes that make the man (or the woman), what
you decorate yourself with is far more important.

Whether your style is casual, preppy, urban, bohemian,
glam or sporty, your baubles, bags and shoes
illustrate who you are. Even something as simple as a
pair of blue jeans and a white tee can be transformed
into a definitive look through accessories.

Some of the best style icons take fashion cues by
never sticking to just one style. No one knows how to
rock multiple styles better than Lindsay Lohan. The
formerly busting out actress has recently gotten a
little more demure, but her complete style oeuvre has
ranged from sporty to sexy, and even a little punky.
Perhaps it was her fun, carefree style that appealed
to teens in the beginning, but she has certainly
proved herself in the fashion world with her bold
styles and usually winning looks.

While Lindsay is well known for her clothes, it is her
accessories that have made her. She wore a pair of hot
boots and an adorable chain way before everyone else
was wearing them, not to mention her immaculate taste
in purses. Though Lindsay doesn’t have one defining
style, her brash tastes in accessories totally express
her fun-loving and artistic side.

What does your style say about you? Some of the best
looks come from mixing different styles (like boots
with pretty skirts, western meets glam, who knew?).
Tell us your favorite looks and fashion secrets! What
worked best, or what didn’t work out at all? (Leggings
with skirts, we know).

Twins are In

mkolsen, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

Teen queen moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Simpson may have become grown-up fashion goddesses, but they aren’t leaving their roots behind. Best known for their fashion sense as well as their business savvy, the twins are ready to market to a new audience—boys.

MK and Ash have signed 13-year-old twin boys Cole and Dylan Sprouse under their Dualstar Entertainment Group label. You may know these blond cuties from the movie “Big Daddy” and guest appearances on “Friends.” It is expected that these boys will be marketed to boys in the same way that the Olsen’s were, through videos, games, books and of course, fashion and accessories.

The Olsen’s have been touted in the past as innovative designers and trendsetters, and probably are best known for their vintage-chic style and over-sized accessories. However, lately, Mary-Kate has taken the college-slouch look to an unbearable level. Think flannels and torn jeans in the early nineties. Seemed like a good idea at the time…Really, MK, one scarf is enough!

Style Icon-Scarlet Johansson

Scarlet Johansson, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

Where did this girl come from? Remember that scrawny little girl from “The Horse Whisperer” and later the angsty teen from “Ghost World?” Who knew she would become such a knock-out? Like many stars, she started out gawky, sort of doing the punk look, sort of doing the trashy club look. Nowadays, Johansson has really been able to shine in 80’s inspired bright colors or retro 50’s and 60’s lady-like looks.

Lately, Johansson has really been proving herself as an actress in dramatic films like “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and “Lost in Translation” as well as her latest, “The Island.” What many fans may not realize is that behind the scenes, Johansson has also become a top-notch model.

Lately, Johansson has become the face for Calvin Klein’s “Eternity Moment” perfume, as well as a runway model for “Imitation of Christ.” And who better for such classic fragrances and Indie-lines? Johansson is one of THE It girls of the Indie scene, yet has a really classic look. Be it a simple Gap sweater and jeans or full-on 50’s pin-up glam, Johansson really knows how to shine.

Get her look:
Even if you don’t have ample, um, assets, full lips and a tiny waist, you can still get classic glam! Here is what you need:

Fall: Get Lovely in Lace

Jeniffer Love Hewitt, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By Raquel Franco

We can all say farewell to mini skirts and midriffs. Instead of baring it all cover up lace. The sexy fabric will leave much to the imagination. Just check out the red carpet and you will see stars like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Teri Hatcher lacin it up in a classy way. The look is totally feminine and romantic. Be careful not to over do it. You’ll save yourself from looking like My Fair Lady. Just add one of your favorite key pieces (pants or a skirt) in basic black to achieve the graceful look.

In”vest” this Fall

Jessica Simpson, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

I haven’t worn a vest since my middle school days, when I blindly searched for at least a trace of fashion sense. So I was shocked when, while flipping through my magazines, I was shot back to the awkward time. Celebrities like Jessica, Ashlee and Heidi Klum were sporting the retro top. To my utter amazement and a double take glance, the vest was rather cute. Pulled over a tank or a body hugging long sleeve t-shirt and you have yourself a great casual outfit

For Keeps

By Raquel Franco

It is sad but you may have to part with some of your favorite pieces that are no longer the trend. You may be in luck because some trends are sticking around for the fall.

Metallic: The shimmery texture looks good on everyone. Still feel like it’s too flashy for you? No worries. The handbag is here. Achieve the metallic look with a sexy gold tote.

Long Beads: The sexy accessory is great for fall sweaters. Layering is still in order but say no to turquoise.

Oversized Handbags: We hope these stay forever. Where else would you keep all your crap? Well, if they don’t last forever it’ll still be around another season.

Camisoles: The lacy satin tops are great for playing peek-a-boo with your clothes. It’s the ultimate way to look sexy.

Maybe your favorite summer trend obsession didn’t make the list but store it away. You never know. It may come back some day.

Trend Setter or Trend Follower?

Beyonce, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

Nicole Kidman. Jennifer Lopez. Beyonce. Jessica Simpson. Great talents, great dressers, but are they trend setters or trend followers?

Today, all of these women are featured every month in fashion and tabloid mags for their relentless taste and style. But once upon a time, they were bad dressers too. Jessica and Beyonce used to overdo their hair and make up, and Nicole was a frizzy plain Jane from down under. Even fashion aficionado’s like Paris Hilton took years in the spotlight to turn from drag queen to demure. Through the magic of fame and a stylist, they have all been transformed into elegant examples for us all. But not without a little help from their friends.

But wait…what about those natural born trend setters? Mary Kate and Ashley fell out of the womb in style, and Sienna Miller has been setting trends for us since learned her name. Even Lyndsay Lohan has always been one step ahead of the game in fashion and accessories.

Who do you think is the best trend setter of all time? Who is the best dressed fashion follower? Blog in, rant and let us know who you think is inventive and innovative, or which star is just a fashion follower.

Fashion goes retro...again

By Raquel Franco

Style is going back t the 40’s, when women were chic and always put together. Becoming the perfect wife and throwing a flawless cocktail party was the goal and looking the part was key. The way to achieve the lack of imperfection was to dress conservatively but with elegance. As the years traipsed on and women rebelled against the “Holly Housewife” look, the hem of our skirts grew shorter and shorter. Now, finally, skank is out and class is in. Demure is the new sexy this fall. Body hugging, satin, strapless gowns are the new way to gracefully step into an evening out. Wrap yourself in a full skirt and a fitted cardigan or button up with a pair of peek-a-boo heels and you will have easily reinvented the 40’s look. It’s all about emphasizing your waist line. The 40’s fashion was focused on looking like a woman and embracing every ample curve. This fall you must find your inner Grace Kelly and step into the vintage trend.

Kate Hudson: Uptown Glam Meets Boho Mom

Kate Hudson, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

by Wendy Owen

In the wake of her recent scandal over monogamy and the recent release of her film “Skeleton Key,” Kate Hudson still manages to look great. AND she’s a mom…how unfair is that?

Whether it’s gauzy and lacy award show ensembles or just casual wear, she always looks great and put together. Granted, she has some genetic help from mom Goldie Hawn, but her style is all her own.

Want Kates look? Here’s how:

Hair: Fellow boho chick Sienna Miller follows Hudson’s cue with casual tousled locks. For these golden girls, undone is best!

Clothing: Indie designers, awesome prints and tried and true pieces like tanks and mini skirts fill their closets. But for trips to the park or grocery store its jeans jeans jeans! Totally distressed, but totally hot is Kate’s look.

Accessories: Here is the splurge! Boho girls may have a casual style, but they know how to accessorize! Like in one of Kate’s films, “Le Divorce,” this girl knows how to accessorize with her bags.

Make like Kate and get boho mom chic with easy and flowy ensembles and beauty and super-hot accessories!

Is Your Wardrobe Winter Ready?

by Wendy Owen

Winter is coming fast…do you have everything you need to take you into spring?
The sad truth is most people don’t. Winter wardrobes are expensive, and for most only use theirs for a few months of the year. Some people who are lucky enough to live in warm climates don’t have to think much about it, but one way or another everyone needs to need to bundle up at some point.

Think that winter clothes are boring? Guess again. Here is a sneak peek at what will be hot this fall:

Bag:
Winter white is hot! Think beautiful and big leather totes with tassels or an edgy motorcycle bag.
Boot:
Sleek boots with or without heels in a monotone color will be perfect for any look this fall and winter.
Scarf:
Think bold and bright! Warm up your neutral wardrobe with a bold splash of color in red or even a deep turquoise.
Jacket:
The lady trench is revived for this winter! Everyone from Kate Moss to Gwyneth Paltrow has already been seen sporting the hottest jacket of this season. Clean lines and a nice shapely cut are flattering on any figure.

Glitterati Rules

By: Wendy Owen

One of the most surprising fashion returns of the season is, well…anything shiny. Sequined tops, metallic purses, belts and shoes? Bring ‘em on.

Strange as it may seem, gilded and sterling looks just keep coming back. For such an overstated fashion palate to last this long is unusual…and the shiny stuff isn’t on its way out yet. For fall, gold is generally being replaced with silver. Stars like Beyonce have already been seen rockin’ weave belts of the silver variety.

While metallics are still hot for the fall, there are a few guidelines to adhere to in order to look tasteful and not tacky after the summer months:

1) One hue at a time please! Only your grandmother could pull off silver and gold all in the same ensemble…but that was in 1986. Pick one hot metallic at a time and go with it.
2) One item at a time please! It was cute to be matchy matchy in the summer with your gold hobo bag, and gold sandals, and gold bag…just pick one item at a time to glitz up for the fall.
3) Evening hours only! Only the most daring fashionista can pull off the shiny stuff in the daytime during the fall months. If this is your first time experimenting with metallics, wear it for evenings out first.

While the over saturated boho look may be on its way out, don’t throw out your sequined skirts and tops yet! Paired with cowboy boots, your sparkly skirts will get a brand new makeover. And your sequined tunics? Well…save them for next summer.

Purple Reigns

By: Wendy Owen

Consider yourself plum lucky—romantic shades of purple are back for the fall. Stars like Katie Holmes are already sporting this sweet color casually and formally.

The best reinvention of purple in your wardrobe should definitely be of the velvet variety. Velvet in any color is hot right now, but purple in dark, regal tones is a winner. But be careful—too much purple velvet and you will look like Willy Wonka.

Not ready to go full on purple? Try to accessorize with purple instead. A crushed velvet clutch or a satin headband would be a great start for the violet-wary.

Ready to take the purple plunge? Go ultra-romantic with a purple dress in a whimsical cut (extra bonus points if it is in velvet with a corset!). However, avoid head to toe purple or you will look more goth than glam. Break it up with neutral or metallic accessories and shoes, and stay away from pairing purple with black.

Dark shades of purple look especially radiant on fair skinned women like Nicole Kidman, so pale girls; it’s your time to shine!

Made For Walkin’

boots, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By: Wendy Owen

The hot look of the moment for footwear has to be boots. Tucked into jeans or paired with a mini skirt, they are THE Hollywood accessory of the season. Whether they are beat up old cowboy boots or knee high heels, no girl should consider herself dressed without them.

Why you ask? Well, boots signify the changing of the seasons. Strappy sandals are cute, but not in subfreezing weather. Boots add a little flair, while still being sensible, and can go from uptown and urban to free spirited bohemian.

Best Pick: Metallic Riding Boot from Prada
Definitely a “wish list” item, these boots have it all—simple lines of a cowboy boot and a mid-calf cut in a hue that will already go with your great metallic summer pieces. Perfect paired with jeans and a gold weave belt or a flowy boho dress.

Word to the wise; wear your boots right. Don’t pair them with too big clothes, and buy them the right size so that your calves don’t spill out over the top.

Black is Back

By Raquel Franco

Time to find a new little black dress. Every designer from Versace to Prada featured a plethora of sexy dresses in the famous slimming shade. Most of the designs were knee skimming and provocative. Applause is needed for the reinvention of the key item that should be in every woman’s closet. Black is not only coming in dresses but in every hot piece of couture on the runway. Handbags, shoes and coats in every texture from velvet, tweed and leather. The high fashion designers really delivered a fabulous ensemble of clothing to look forward to this fall. With all this sexy black wear you can be sure that your bum will be looking slim this season.

A mid-summer night’s fashion

by Wendy Owen

With the summer already halfway gone, it’s time to recap some of the good, the bad and the ugly in summer styles. Be it a classic or a new trend, see if you are a victim or a fashion genius.

1) Bermuda shorts
Verdict: Flop! While preppy and clean on model bodies, they turn even average girls dumpy and frumpy, and forget it if you have heavy thighs. My solution? Make like a 50’s be-popper and roll those pants! Capri’s are so over, but you can still look fresh in short pants!
2) Tunics:
Verdict: Fabulous fad! Whether they are dressy and bejeweled or plain and casual tunics are one of the best looks of the summer. Great for the beach or for going out, with just a hint of the bohemian ethnic look, tunics also look great on any figure (in the correct size, of course).
3) Paisley Tunic Dresses
Verdict: Flop! Once again, boho was done wrong turning the possibly glam into downright gaudy. Too busy prints and oversized shapes make them look more like mumus.
4) Gold Sandals
Verdict: Fabulous Fad! Brought back from the eighties, girls don’t have to be afraid of wearing gold on their toes any longer. With stunning styles from Blahnik to Payless, every girl can be gilded and glam.
5) Straw Totes
Verdict: It’s a tie! While straw totes are cute for the beach, casual days and picnics, they just don’t have what it takes to carry a girl through the day. Try some brightly colored reptile prints instead.

Tired of bright colors and sandals already? Here are some summery items that will be hot this fall that you can start wearing already:
1) Wooden/earthy jewelry—This is already hot among the stars! Look for wooden beads in browns, tan and cranberry and “ethnic” jewelry and accessories.
2) Animal prints—Wear in moderation! Make like Gwen Stefani and keep it to a minimum with a halter, purse, shoes or a faux animal print jacket.
3) New Wave Victorian—If it looks like something Cyndi Lauper would have worn in the 1880’s, snatch it up! Silky blouses in hot hot colors and pearls, lace and chiffon were all the rage on the runways for fall, so get yours now!

Maggie Gyllenhaal: Girl Next-Door Meets Glam

by Wendy Owen

Maggie Gyllenhaal is perhaps one of the best Hollywood fashion icons that no one knows about. Elegant, demure and sometimes even edgy, Maggie always seems to pull off whatever she is wearing. Somehow, she seems to mix vintage and quirky with tailored lines and always looks fabulous. In many ways, Maggie is almost “granny chic” in that Annie Hall sort of way, but with a touch of glam.

Wanna steal Maggies’ look? Here are a few simple suggestions to get started:

1) Tailored lines: Suits, pencil skirts, button down shirts and flat front pants are the base of Maggies’ wardrobe. Get yourself some really nice and classic pieces (a blazer, black trousers or a skirt) and build from there! You need basic colors and lines as a backdrop for all of the great details that goes into a “Maggie” look.
2) Go Vintage: Lace, pearls, tassels, heels, silk stockings, scarves, cameos…the list goes on. Add your own classy vintage touches, like a silk clutch purse or vintage jewels with a silky or mesh top. Accessorize, but only lightly!
3) Add the glitz: Maggie likes to add shimmer in unexpected places, like using elastic sequins as a belt around a couture dress. Experiment on your own for something unusual, but not tacky. As the leading female face of indie film, Maggie also loves to add funky and artistic accessories, so check those out too.
4) Keep hair and makeup at a minimum: Maggie rarely does hair and make-up all out unless it’s for a magazine cover. Her look is light and natural and that’s part of the secret to pulling off her look. Over the top hair and makeup would distract from, say, a pair of dangly glass earrings. For Maggie style hair and make-up, less is more!

Check out Maggie in past movies like “Secretary” or “Donnie Darko” (with brother Jake) or in the upcoming movie “Criminal” as well as in the August edition of “Elle.” For Maggie style on lefashionista.com, check out the Indie Girl lines from Gabby Bella and Lizzie Eno, or The Satin Disco Clutch handbag.

Ooh Lola

Lola Bag Juicy Couture, originally uploaded by leFashionista.

By Raquel Franco

I am in love with Juicy Couture’s new handbag line. When you see it there will be no need to “persuede” you. The Lola Suede bag is my absolute favorite among the saucy new handbags. It is soft and accented with cross stitching and logo studs. The J zipper pull adds a cute Juicy touch. The fringe and rhinestones on this couture piece makes for a hobo meets western style. It would look great with a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of sexy cowboy boots. You could even pair it with a bohemian skirt and boots like Jessica Simpson. Whatever you wear with it, it will surely look fabulous. This bag is a definite must buy for the fall season.

Stolen catch Phrase

Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton are the ultimate socialites. They were made famous on the show Simple Life by leaving their riches behind to make it in the “real world”. During the show, many words that escaped their lips were added to the slang dictionary. Paris’s catch phrase, “That’s hot” has become the most popular. In the last season the phrase became like word vomit from Miss Richie and it now seems as if she has taken the phrase for good.

In recent news Nicole Richie has announced the launch of her new fashion line coming October 11th of this year. Her line called “That’s Hot” will grace the stage at the Los Angeles fashion week. Richie will debut the line with a collection of signature T-shirts. You can catch the contemporary tees and tanks in the Lifestyle Clothiers Showroom, owned by Sue Volin-Gershon.
